“Top Secret: When Our Government Keeps Us in the Dark” is a new book by Geoffrey Stone, a University of Chicago law professor whose earlier book, Perilous Times, traced our nation’s civil liberties struggles. The new book, part of the First Amendment Center’s Free Expression in America series, explores tensions between government secrecy and the efforts of citizens and journalists to gain access to government information.
