· Story link North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper said that information on retirement benefits for state workers is public record and should be available, even though the language of a new law seems to preclude it. Open government advocates said the law was unintentionally altered. “North Carolina has some of the strongest public records laws in the nation, and the interpretation of those laws should favor openness,” Cooper said.
