Pentagon Moves to Limit Media Coverage of Military Medical Facilities

Army Times reported that the Pentagon has taken a series of steps to cut press access to soldiers in rehabilitation from Iraqi war wounds at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the focus of an investigative report in the Washington Post about substandard conditions. And soldiers are being subject to daily inspections, a move some see as retribution for the fact some of them talked with the Post about shabby conditions at the Medical Hold Unit. The Pentagon also imposed media coverage restrictions at other military medical facilities. (3/1/07)
