California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed a bill that would allow journalists greater prison access because he thinks interviews only serve to glamorize criminals, but he did agree reporters should have greater access to the state’s current prison system so they could report on overcrowding and other problems. He directed the Department of Corrections to revise their access regulations while restricting access to violent criminals. (10/2/06).
