Sen. Arlen Specter, R-PA., introduced a bill that would require the Supreme Court to allow television coverage of its proceedings unless a majority of justices determine that the due process rights of a litigant would be violated. “The Supreme Court makes pronouncements on Constitutional and federal law that have direct impacts on the rights of Americans,” Specter said. “Those rights would be substantially enhanced by televising the oral arguments …so that the public can see and hear the issues presented.” (2/1/07)
