The Senate’s secret hold – a long standing rule that allowed any senator to anonymously block legislation – is no more. The Senate voted 84-13 for an amendment sponsored by Sens. Charles Grassley, R-IA, and Ron Wyden, D-OR, that will make public the name of any senator putting a “hold” on a bill. (4/4/06)
