The San Francisco Chronicle said in a lawsuit that the government should be compelled to make public the names of as many as 23 major league baseball players who received performance-enhancing drugs from the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative. The names of the players were redacted in the copy of the BALCO search warrant in the public court files. The suit says the names of the players “is a matter of public interest and concern.” (6/8/07)
