One South Florida county is preparing to spend at least $2.3 million on a new electronic records system that will allow it to put its public court records on line. Broward County estimates that’s the cost of not just scanning in old paper records but getting software to remove personal identifying information. Some sensitive information will have to be manually removed. The Florida Supreme Court must approve the project. It’s expected to take five years to post all the records. (6/12/06)
