Support for the First Amendment is growing but 40 percent of Americans still believe the press has too much freedom, according to a survey by the First Amendment Center. It also showed that most cannot name the five freedoms guaranteed by the amendment and that a majority supports the right of newspapers to publish sensitive government information if it shows some kind of wrong doing.
