The Associated Press reports that gavel-to-gavel coverage of state legislatures is increasing, with more than 20 stations across the country now offering such coverage. One state legislator, Connecticut Deputy House Speaker Bob Godfrey, calls it a new form of reality TV, particularly when there is a hot issue like the hearings that helped push former Gov. John Rowland from office. “This was unscripted, unrehearsed — what’s actually going on live at the state Capitol, often on issues of interest in a general or specific way.” (6/7/07)
