Two on FCC Seek Authority to Meet in Private

The chairman and another member of the Federal Communications Commission want Congress to amend the open meetings law so they can have “candid,” private conversations among commission members. Chairman Michael Powell and Commissioner Michael Copps said in a letter to Congress that the law against a quorum meeting privately to discuss government business works against efficient functioning of the five member commission because all private conversations must be one on one.
