The Portland Oregonian asked the U.S. District Court in Oregon to unseal documents in a lawsuit that involves National Security Agency wiretapping of private conversations. The case involves intercepted conversations between the co-director of an Islamic charity and his two lawyers in the United States. The al-Haramain Islamic Foundation, which the Justice Department claims has ties to al-Qaeda, claims the wiretaps were illegal. Justice said it would oppose release of the documents. (3/24/06)
