UPDATE
09/25/95
House and Senate conferees have agreed to an appropriations bill continuing funding for the Information Security Oversight Office, which oversees the federal government’s classified information, but the measure would move the office from the Office of Management and Budget to the National Archives.
The original House bill had removed any monies for ISOO, a proposal that could have gutted the mandates of President Clinton’s executive order issued in November that required major declassification efforts by the federal government. A Senate bill would have funded the office and placed it under the Executive Office of the President.
