An American journalist detained in Iran is on trial this week, entirely in secret, on charges she is a spy for the United States government, The New York Times and The Washington Post report.

Roxana Saberi is a citizen of both countries; she was arrested in January over allegations she was working without current press credentials. She was later charged with spying. Saberi has reported for the BBC and NPR.

A verdict is expected within the next several weeks, at the conclusion of her trial.
