There’s no Santa Claus. At least not in the CIA’s official records. National Security Archive director Tom Blanton offered that an indication of government over secrecy. He told the National Freedom of Information Coalition of FOIA searches for a whimsical CIA document. It was obtained, using FOIA, from the Gerald Ford Library. A terrorist group named Scrooge planned to sabotage an annual Government of the North Pole flight, it said. The same document, requested from the CIA, was released with text totally redacted to protect national security. (5/15/07)
