The former head of the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel told the Senate Judiciary Committee that parts of the Bush Administration’s eavesdropping program are illegal. Jack Goldsmith said he could find no legal support for parts of the surveillance program. However he said he couldn’t be specific on what law or constitutional principle the program violated because the White House had forbidden from offering his legal analysis. (10/3/)7)
